When I started my hand lettering journey six years ago, I was looking for a way to write truth beautifully and be reminded of it every day. I wanted to read truth when I looked in the mirror, when I was making dinner, and whenever I was distracted around my house. My mind tends to be at war with itself—convincing me that I am less than what God has created me to be. That my worth is defined by my striving and what I’ve achieved. That it is impossible for God to love me because I’m lacking. So I set out on a mission to surround myself with truth and make the process an outlet and the result beautiful. Because that’s exactly what truth is: beautiful. As my purpose became clear, I discovered a love for lettering that quickly turned into a passion and, eventually, due to high demand, a business. I opened an online shop, began teaching workshops, and designed an online class so anyone could learn to letter. The process of creating something beautiful by hand takes time and dedication. And, for me, it has always been something I have used to worship God and experience His presence. I hope that as you learn the art of lettering, you are able to quiet your mind and focus on the One your soul longs for—the One who gives you life and completes you.
