Quadratum: Drumming Camp

June 1-5
9:00-3:00 PM
2nd-5th

Students learn drumming fundamentals including stick, hand, and bell techniques through playing iconic Ghanaian drum dances of the EweGa, and Akan peoples on authentic instruments carved in Ghana by master builders. In so doing, they will engage in true team musicking, where every position crucially contributes to the whole. The unique songs that accompany each piece enliven the experience. We are looking for enthusiastic students -- no previous musical experience is necessary. This camp is offered by the directors of Quadratum: Brian Parks and Catherine Moulton

Brian Parks holds advanced degrees in Composition and Ethnomusicology from Wesleyan University and is a Fellow of the American Guild of Organists.

Catherine Moulton is a pedagogue and choralist working in Marietta. Her teaching strives to embody music theoretic principles through vocal technique, stagecraft, confident self-presentation, and the building of other critical life skills.
