About Bartow College & Career Academy 6-HR BTW

Marietta/Cobb Driver’s Education is a joint program of the Marietta and Cobb County school systems. Our courses are offered to all high school students, ages 15 – 18, and they do not have to attend Marietta or Cobb County schools.

Course information

Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) instruction is one-on-one instruction that occurs on the road in an MCDE DDS-approved vehicle. This instruction is intended for students who have strong attention, intact sensory acuity and some experience driving a vehicle. As safety and competence dictates, BTW instruction includes Range Work, Residential Driving and Expressway Driving. (If student's instructor determines student is lacking proficiency behind-the-wheel, not all components may be covered to ensure safety to student, instructor and other drivers on road ways. Extra driving sessions are available for purchase as needed.) All Driver’s Education cars are equipped with an instructor side brake, extra mirrors and meet the requirements of the GA Department of Driver Services.

BTW instruction consists of three 2-hour sessions that are scheduled at the discretion of the student's assigned instructor based on instructor's and student's availability.

Instruction is offered from Bartow College & Career Academy located at 738 Grassdale Rd, Cartersville, 30121. (see map)

Upon successful completion of the BTW instruction, student will receive a 6-hour Driver's Ed Certificate of Completion. Certificate will be sent to parent/guardian via email.

Our office must have the student’s permit number and date of issue before the student can be assigned to a driver’s education instructor for their 6 hours of behind the wheel driving. If that information was not completed on the registration form, you will need to send us this info either via email or phone before your student will be assigned to an instructor for the behind-the-wheel portion of instruction.

Cancelled driving appointments result in lost instructional hours and delay the assignment of the remaining students. Driving appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $40 rescheduling fee.
